SOUTH AMERICA

PEPE ARGENTINA
Starting Year: 2011
National Coordinator: Graziela Alencastro
Motivation for the program development: Poor neighborhoods, illiterate mothers, children out of school, poverty vicious circle, and childhood malnutrition.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Reach holistically pre-school age children and their families with the Gospel.
2. Share the Bible teaching with children and their families.
3. Express God’s love in a practical way (food / clothes in general/ workshops and formation courses/ visiting to children at their homes).

Goals for 2020:
1. Establish new units of PEPE in Argentina
2. Have 30 units of PEPE working.


PEPE BOLIVIA
Starting Year: 2005
National Coordinator: Kátia Arredondo Hipamo
Motivation for the program development: Chuches with love for children and anxious to share about Jesus to other people. And the opportunity to reach children in a social risk situation and with lack of access to preschool education.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Motivate church leaders to promote the missionary work.
2. Link the opening of new units of PEPE to process of church planting.
3.Strengthening of churches through PEPE Program in the community.
Goals for 2020:
1. Open a PEPE unit in the border of Argentina
2. Open more units in the whole country.
3. Have an updated pedagogical material which can be used in the whole country.


PEPE CHILE
Starting Year: 2011
National Coordinator: Maria Amélia Sepúlveda García
Motivation for the program development: Expand God’s kingdom through the experience of PEPE Program in Chile with educational units, taking hope to children’s hearts, sharing the message of love of our Heavenly Father. Offer opportunities to other Chile regions to implement the program.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Implement a health and nutrition prevention in at least 30% of the units.
2. Create support pedagogical material for missionary-educators.
3. Strengthen the oldest units of PEPE through training, online support and creation of new teaching materials.
Goals for 2020:
1. Promote the use of teaching-learning material of PEPE International and National in at least 70% of the units.
2. Visit churches offering training workshops that allows them to improve their work with children
3. Strengthen the work with parents and guardians of children at the different units of PEPE.
4. Create musical support material.


PEPE COLOMBIA
Starting Year:2011
National Coordinator:Adalci de Ávila Angulo
Motivation for the program development: Colombia is a country with many regions with great povety, where pre-school age children have no opportunity of learning, like the indigenuous communities Wiwa and other ethnic groups.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Care and safety for our children and families.
2. Help our children’s families to know and live God’s love.
3. Seek resources and agreements for food and education to children, mainly from the indigenous communities.

Goals for 2020:
1. Learn and develop childhood education activities through virtual media.
2. Prepare a Food Project for the indigenous communities Wiwa.
3. Keep promoting PEPE at churches.


PEPE EQUATOR
Starting Year:2006
National Coordinator: Angélica María Marcillo Gutiérrez
Motivation for the program development: opportunity to develop PEPE as lives changing project for low income children, guide the parents to have a better quality life, strengthen small churches and contribute to new churches opening.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Guide the coordinators to accomplish the strategic Plan procedures of PEPE International.
2. Implement the standard Performance in all units of PEPE.
3. Implement a formation proposal for missionary-educators for an inclusive Education.

Goals for 2020:
1. Use the educational material of PEPE reaching at least 70% of the units, including online videos to the new modality used by MEs through WhatsApp, guaranteeing good teaching to children.
2. Guarantee the knowledge of PEPE objectives, training the professionals and non-professionals MEs, completing the 40 hours of initial training.


PEPE PARAGUAY
Starting Year: 2002
National Coordinator: Enrique Javier Galarza Guerrero
Motivation for the program development: Assist children in a vulnerable and poverty situation in the capitals and rural areas of the country, paying attention to illiterate families. Paraguay presents a frame of 11 % of children in a malnutrition and hunger state.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Reorganize the teaching through virtual media to keep developing the activities with children.
2. Open PEPE units in different sectors of poor communities.
3. Offer adequate health and nutrition to reach better educational and well-being levels.
Goals for 2020:
1. Changes and settings on the teaching system to adapt to MEC guidelines
2. Promote the formation of missionary-educators to prepare projects which bless children, projects related to nutrition, protection and health.
3.Organize a virtual platform for missionary-educators’ congress about digital age and the education.


PEPE PERU
Starting Year: 2002
National Coordinator:Clorinda Alberca Rodríguez
Motivation for the program development: In Peru, in the highland and in the forest, there is a high rate of poverty and malnutrition. Churches need to be motivated to reach children and their families.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Enable the professional and non-professional missionary-educators at the initial formation.
2. Challenge churches to work with PEPE Program to serve children.
3. Keep presenting the proposal of PEPE to local pastors.

Goals for 2020:
1. Make the continuous formation program for missionary-educators in all units.
2. Keep the teaching process through virtual media.
3. Support the creation of community kitchens to assist the communities where PEPE units are implemented.


PEPE VENEZUELA
Starting Year: 2015
National Coordinator: Ruth Saraid Cordero Orellana
Motivation for the program development: Children in a vulnerable situation, the critical moment of great needs and social deficiencies, extreme poverty, and the church’s desire to care for children and give them the opportunity to education and food.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Implement PEPE Program in each Baptist church of the country.
2. Nutrition Program and continuous formation for missionary-educators.
3. Motivate actions to defend children rights at all the units of churches that develop PEPE.
Goals for 2020:
1. Start a pilot project of income generation with the church development committee to get food for each unit of PEPE.
2. Through the area coordinators enable churches to perform PEPE Goes (Childhood Support Visitation Program).
3. Implement an awareness plan for the leaders about the missional responsibility of the church.

 

Central America

EL SALVADOR
Starting Year: 2014
National Coordinator: Verônica Carolina Torrento de Cortez
Motivation for the program development: The Salvadorian population needs a program that considers the childhood and stop looking at it as an object, but yet as subjects. Once that looking at them as objects, only a minimal effort was done to entertain them and not to include them. This makes the childhood to be used by gangs since early years, destroying thus the success future they would have. Another motivation is the vicious circle of poverty, where there is no bigger opportunities to children due to little or no preparation.

Objectives and what has been done:
1. Churches involvement in the children holistical development.
2. Improve the secular and spiritual educational standards of children benefited at the PEPE project.
3. Overcome the malnutrition levels on children benefited at the PEPE project.
Goals for 2020:
1. Guide churhes in the partners’ search to donate food for the units.
2. Promote formation for the missionary educators to make perform activities with children, with proposals and simple materials, according to the national curriculum, in order to develop professionally to teach better the children according to the new technologies.
3. Guarantee the implementation of the parents Committee at the units of PEPE (at least 90% of the units).

GUATEMALA
Starting Year:2014
National Coordinator: Nora Mendoza
Motivation for the program development: Lack of attention to children. There was no school for pre-school age children and they kept on the streets, many times getting involved with criminal gangs.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Academical assistance to pre-school age children.
2. Medical and vaccination assistance to protect children against diseases.
3. Nutritional assistance: several churches offer breakfast and snacks to children.
Goals for 2020:
1. Receive and evaluate the diagnostic situation of new areas in the country to strengthen the work after covid-19.
2. Seek alliances with different organizations to support the units of PEPE in the health area.
3. Promote training for missionary-educators in activities with proposals and simple materials, according to the national curriculum.


HONDURAS
Starting Year: 2017
National Coordinator: Vilma Alejandra Milla Paz
Motivation for the program development: Children from more vulnerable and dangerous areas do not have access to pre-school education. PEPE brought hope to these children, with a teaching completely based on the national basic curriculum and on the biblical and christian principles to give hope to the wounded hearts.
Objectives and what has been done: PEPE HONDURAS has all the requirements asked by the Education Ministry and the units are congratulated by the intellectual development and good preparation children have got.
Objectives:
1. A quality education with christian principles, taking hope to vulnerable children in the poorest areas of the country.
2. Bigger growth of churches by conversions of students’ families.
3. Strengthening of christian education at churches that are part of the project.
Goals for 2020:
1. Monitor the educational work with missionary-educators to reach the educational and teaching objectives for the school year.
2. Continuous communication with children’s parents to support them and send them though WhatsApp/zoom, evangelistical videos to support PEPE Goes, sending also families devotionals.
3. Provide resources and teaching-learning materials for children without access to technology, telephone, etc.

MEXICO
Starting Year: 2014
National Coordinator: Bertha Elvira Salgado Rodríguez
Motivation for the program development: Strengthen the children’s ministry of churches and have a social impact in communities where the churches are located.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Open seven units in a short period of time, after many years of promotion in churches and regional conventions.
2. Provide educational materials for the units according to the national curriculum and their hard copies and digital distribution.
3. Provide care to children in pre-school age and design a program to care for older siblings in primary age, to reach better the family.
Goals for 2020:
1. Keep the effort of PEPE making part of the Baptist National Convention of Mexico.
2. Keep the continuous formation of missionary-educators about the topic of interest and according to the needs of each unit.
3. Strengthen the promotion of PEPE in Mexico through social network and visits to local churches in a proper moment.


NICARAGUA
Starting Year: 2014
National Coordinator: Sandra Lizeth Detrinidad López
Motivation for the program development: Strengthen churches, provide service to communities around the temples, give educational attention to children and take the gospel to communities’ members. Objectives and what has been done:
1. Serve in a practical way the members of low-income communities, offering initial education to children.
2. Take the gospel to the community people and children.
3. Church projection and growth
Goals for 2020:
1.Strengthen virtual PEPE Goes, through trainings and formation of missionary-educators.
2. Promote the implementation of new units of PEPE aiming the opening of new missionary fields and/or churches.
3. Perform the continuous formation plan for missionary-educators.
4. Promote the community development program.


PANAMA
Starting Year: 2015
National Coordinator: Belén Peñafiel de Francis
Motivation for the program development: Evangelization of children and their families.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Evangelization of childhood: children learn stories and biblical texts.
2. Reach families: Parents or guardians of children express that they approach God through children that pray and share stories and biblical texts learnt.
3. Churches Testimony: the community express the good testimony of churches by the attention and service offered to children..
Goals for 2020:
1. Follow the topics given to children aiming to align the national educational plan of PEPE.
2. Keep and improve the communication with missionary-educators through social network and online platforms.
3. Implement and strengthen virtual PEPE Goes, the contact and visitation through technological means and social network.


DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
Starting Year: 2010
National Coordinator: Juana Tereza Mora Rodríguez
Motivation for the program development: In Dominican Republic there is a great number of children aged between 4 and 5 years old that do not go to school, missing the experience of a initial education.
Most of the schools for this age are private and expensive. As the temples buildings are used just a little, we saw the possibility of blessing children through churches, implementing a unit of PEPE for the humble families to be benefited. PEPE has been an evangelistical tool for the communities.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Educational: Be at the performance level required by PEPE and the Education Ministry, including more than 1000 children at the national educational level.
2. Social: Approaching the community to PEPE project, making the church known and relevant. Offering support and community assistance, including medical assistance, educational lectures and trainings to parents.
3. Missionary: Children were able to take the gospel to their houses, teaching the families in prayer and about God.
Goals for 2020:
Expand PEPE to new areas of the country.
Make an excellence operational work at the units of PEPE.
Make continued formation for missionary-educators and coordinators.
Establish alliances and cooperation to get resources for PEPE.
Implement actions that promote community development.


SOUTHERN AFRICA

South Africa
Starting Year: 2011
National Coordinator: Vanessa Patience
Motivation for the program development: great number of children in a social vulnerable situation and without access to childhood education in the poorest communities.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Expand the project to more churches in the provinces where there is already units and to new ones.
2. Strengthen the missional vision: Strengthen and plant churches from PEPE.
3. Train the team: make 2 more trainings in the year, aiming the initial basic formation and three more continued formation.
Goals for 2020:
1. Open 2 more units reaching 8 units.
2. Have 70 new children enrolled, reaching 270 children.
3. Have 8 missionary-educators to reach 18.
4.Visit all the children.

 

ANGOLA
Starting Year: 2004
National Coordinator: Manuel Wafumbua
Motivation for the program development: great number of children in a social vulnerable situation and without access to childhood education in the poorest communities.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Strengthen the units of PEPE according to the performance standards required by the program.
2. Enable the team of missionary-educators continuously.
3. Cooperate to strengthen the missional vision of churches developing PEPE.
Goals for 2020
1.Start 8 new units to reach a total of 60 units.
2. Have 405 new children enrolled to reach 2000 children.
3. Have 44 new missionary-educators to reach a total of 106.
3. Realizar 2 treinamentos de com líderes e pastores sobre o tema visão missional.


MOZAMBIQUE
Starting Year: 2001
National Coordinator: Antonio Daniel Chiro
Motivation for the program development: difficult access of great part of children population in communities and villages and the chronic malnutrition compose the challenges at a national level, and more evident in the provinces in the north of the country, namely Nampula, Cabo Delgado, Niassa and Zambezia.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Guide the implementation of the performance standards of PEPE at a national level aiming continuously the hygiene.
2. Enable PEPE team at a national level..
3. Make continuous actions for community development.
Goals for 2020:
1. Reach at least 90% of PEPE units at the basic level of performance standards.
2. Start the implementation of the new initial formation program e continued formation program of missionary-educators.
3. Stimulate action of child protection at PEPE and at churches.

SÃO TOMÉ and PRÍNCIPE
Starting Year: 2003
National Coordinator: Anilza Quaresma
Motivation for the program development: great number of children in a social vulnerable situation and without access to childhood education in the poorest communities.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Expand PEPE to new areas of the country.
2. Enable PEPE team: when Covid-19 arrived we were not prepared, but now we learnt to prepare the team to understand they were called for all moments.
3. Strengthen PEPE Goes (Child support and visitation Program). Visit all the families of children from PEPE units. .
Goals for 2020:
1. Adequate the units of PEPE at the basic level required by the Program.
2. Expand PEPE to the city of Principe.
3. Open two more units.
4. Finish the legalization process of PEPE at the Education Ministry.
5. Strengthen the actions of PEPE consultant Counsel in the country.
6. Establish partnership with the Evangelical Christian Churches Association of Sao Tome and Principe.

 

WESTERN AFRICA 1

Cape Verde
Starting Year: 2000
National Coordinator: Diva Monteiro
Motivation for the program development: Take God’s Word to children, reach their families and offer the opportunity to a pre-school education.
Objectives and what has been done: Besides the educational program for children, PEPE Cape Verde has done actions of PEPE Goes (visitation to children and their families), social programs, and also new leaders formation, in order to accomplish the action plan made for 2020.
Goals for 2020:
1. Make known by expanding the promotion in the country.
2. Bring more families to Jesus.
3. Open new units through local churches.
4. Seek more partners and supporters.


GAMBIA
Starting Year: 2016
National Coordinator: Stephanie Pauline Gomez
Motivation for the program development: high number of children in needy villages without access to pre-school education.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Benefit children of needy communities to have access to quality education – two units were opened and assisted more than 150 children.
2. Help the local church to understand its role in the community and become more active in the work- both units visit the families of the children with the missionary educators and members of the church.
3. Establish partnership with other organizations and health professionals to make lectures and assist children and their mothers and other ladies of the community.
4. Contribute to the awareness of parents about the holistical education of their children and their protection from possible dangers.
5. It was created in both units the parents committee and they had lectures about the importance of children education and their protection.
Goals for 2020:
1. Open a new unit.
2. Promote PEPE in other churches.
3. Initial Formation for the new educator of the unit Miracles.
4. Continued Formation for the missionary-educators through internet, and in person when it is possible.
5. Local Leadership formation to improve the development of the units.

GUINEA BISSAU
Starting Year: 2010
National Coordinator: Enoca Nhaga Massé
Motivation for the program development: evangelize children and their families, help churches to accomplish their mission, take dignity and quality education to pre-school age children, appreciate children preparing them to enter formal school, offering a holistical education.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Help churches to get involved in missionary works;
2. Help in the holistical development of children;
3. Prepare children to enter school.
Goals for 2020:
1. Guide the implementation of new units in the country.
2. Follow and monitor the management of the units of PEPE.
3. Enable leaders and missionary-educators with the new manual of implementation of PEPE units.
4. Increase the number of units and children.
5. Formation for the team to get used with remote conference platforms to enable the missionary-educators.
6. Implementation of the Nutrition Project in all the units of the country.


GUINEA CONAKRI
Starting Year: 2003
National Coordinator: Momo Youla
Motivation for the program development: Help the local church to be in contact with communities.
Objectives and what has been done: Offer children an opportunity to get a good education that stimulates the holistical development, help the community to participate in the education of children.
Goals for 2020:
1. Make the unit of PEPE to become a model project of quality education.
2. Guide the implementation of the performance standards required by PEPE.
3. Make the diagnostic evaluation of the regions of Pita, Dubreka.
4. Expand the program to new regions: Pita, Dubréka.
5. Promote the strengthening of PEPE Goes (Child Support and Visitation Program)
6. Implement the complementary projects: POPE, Nutrition and Health.
7. Identifify possible agreements of partnerships with local organizations.


HAITI
Starting Year: 2014
National Coordinator: Madame Guerline (in formation)
Motivation for the program development: access difficulty to education for great part of child population in communities and villages, and malnutrition.
Objectives and what has been done:
PEPE Haiti passes by a restoration moment. Therefore we are investing efforts to restart the whole process of implementation of PEPE units in the country according to the Program guidelines.
1.Strengthen the unit of PEPE already implemented.
2. Continuous Formation for missionary-educator working.
Goals for 2020:
1. Make official the national coordination of PEPE.
2. Open at least two more units of PEPE in the capital.
3. Make at least three continued formations with all the missionary-educators.

MALI
Starting Year: 2009
National Coordinator: Amós Dembele
Motivation for the program development: children’s needs to have access to education and share the Good News of the gospel to children from the region.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Offer to pre-school age children from Mali, the access to a pre-school education.
2. Take children and families to know the Good News of the gospel.
3.Implment more units in the country.
Goals for 2020:
1. Open two new units in the country.
2. Implement complementary projects like: POPE (Program of Odontology and Preventive Education), Nutrition and basic Health.


SENEGAL
Starting Year: 2007
National Coordinator: Louise Daba Diouf
Motivation for the program development: help the local churches to become more relevant in their communities offering children a good pre-school preparation that stimulates their social and spiritual development.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Expand the number of units of PEPE to different areas of the country.
2. Initial and Continued Formation for the whole PEPE team.
Goals for 2020:
1.Make the diagnostic of new areas.
2. Put in action the expansion plan of PEPE in developing areas.
3.Make the missionary-educators’ formation to implement the Nutrition Project.


SIERRA LEONE
Starting Year: 2006
National Coordinator: Cecília M. S. Kamara
Motivation for the program development: need to reach an area predominatly islamic, that has a large number of child population without access to formal education.
Objectives and what has been done: Act with operational excellence at the units of PEPE to reach better children and promote community development.
Actions already done:
1. Area Coordinator’s formation and West team. One unit promotes children teeth brushing and receives the visit of volunteer doctors to assist children.
2. Identification of two churches interested in starting PEPE in the community.
3. Identification of actions to be done after Covid-19 among the districts with social distancing.
Goals for 2020:
1. Expansion of PEPE to new areas in the country.
2. Present PEPE to possible partners and supporters.
3. Guide the implementation of performance standards in all the units of PEPE to at least 90% reach the basic level required by the Program.
4. Implement the complementary projects: POPE, Health and Nutrition in all the units.

 

WESTERN AFRICA 2

BENIN
Starting Year: 2019
National Coordinator: Lèvi Koudjo
Motivation for the program development: country with a high rate of children without access to education.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. We have done the context diagnostic of the country.
2. Established partnership and alliances with PEPE in the country.
3. Enable the National Coordinator.
Goals for 2020:
1.Get the government permission to PEPE work at a national level.
2. Implementation of the first unit of PEPE in September.
3. Finish the initial formation of the national coordinator.
4. Give initial formation to the first missionary-educators in the country.


REPUBLIC OF TOGO
Starting Year: 2016
National Coordinator: Afi-Kuma Djomakou
Motivation for the program development: The local government has no conditions to offer pre-school education to most of the children in the country.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Increase the number of children assisted by the implementation of 2 new units of PEPE, being one in each new area in the North of the country.
2.Strengthen the formation of the national coordinator.
3. Cooperate to the strengthening of churches with a missional vision.
Goals for 2020:
1. Cooperate with the strengthening and planting of churches with a missional vision in the North of the country.
2. Enable new missionary-educators of PEPE.
3. Promote actions that favor the community development.
4. Improve the system management of the units of PEPE already implemented.


SOUTHEAST ASIA

INDIA
Starting Year: 2020
National Coordinator: Pr. Vilas Raypure (in formation)
Motivation for the program development: high rate of children in a vulnerable social situation without access to adequate pre-school education..
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Implement new units in the city of Mumbai. First unit was opened in March of the current year and there trainings scheduled for two more churches interested in PEPE.
2. Establish partnerships with missionary and evangelical organizations that desires to implement PEPE. We have signed a partnership agreement with Maharashtra Baptist Society and the cooperation agreement with Elah Baptist Church in Mumbai
Goals for 2020:
1. Finish the initial formation with the national coordinator and make official his function.
2. Enable two new teams of missionary-educators to open two more units.
3. Organize and establish the parents’ committee at units of PEPE.
4. Keep a weekly visitation program to the families of PEPE children.


EAST TIMOR
Starting Year: 2016
National Coordinator: Madalena Marques
Motivation for the program development: Take hope to children and their families, loving them as Christ love them.
Objectives and what has been done:
1. Increase the number of children and units. There are already 150 children in 3 units of PEPE.
2.Develop PEPE’s team.
3. Cooperate with the strengthening and church planting with missional vision.
4. Open this year of 2020 a new unit of PEPE.
5. we keep making PEPE Goes (Visitation Program to children and their families) even in this pandemic time, through virtual medias and telephone.
Goals for 2020:
1. Make the initial and continued Formation of missionary-educators of all units.
2. Enable the leadership of the new church that will implement PEPE.
3. Establish partnerships with evangelical church associations of the country to open new PEPE units.
4. Keep the process of implementation of POPE (Program of Odontology and Preventive Education) at the three units of PEPE in the country.
